Missions...it's not about us!Missions collage

As a United Methodist congregation, CrossPoint has always been actively involved in missions, both local and global.  We have a passion for love, justice, and spreading the gospel, and we do it at every opportunity.  But you might be asking yourself, “Where do I fit in?”  It’s simple, take a look at what’s available and do what you love.  We have two types of missions, those done in the church as a whole and those done in small groups.  Church-wide missions tend to be inwardly focused and they are an extension of the vision.  Small group missions, on the other hand, tend to be community focused and are a fulfillment of our mission to “Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples.”

Through our Shares of Ministry, we support activities of The General Board of Global Ministries, including the the United Methodist Committee on Relief. We encourage inviduals and Small Groups to get involved and support these various mission activities.

Your Passion
Do you have a passion?  Is there a mission that’s not listed?  Maybe you want to help people who have been hit by a hurricane or tornado.  Maybe you’re looking for a simple mission trip to Philadelphia or New York City.  There are all sorts of missions, far too many to list them all here.  So if you don’t see your passion, or if you’re wondering about something more, see Pastor Jason for other opportunities and you and your small group and pull it together!

If you want to get involved or know more, contact the Church or call (717) 545-1911. Specific ministries we are involved in and support include:

Daystar understands itself to be a Christian mission. Daystar believes that persons of faith have a responsibility to help free others who are addicted and affected by addiction. We invite all who share our values to join us in this mission. You can become a Star Associate (volunteer), staff, board member, client, graduate, donor and prayer partner as a member of the "Daystar family." We believe that as we help the addicted overcome their spiritual disease, we too are helped to overcome whatever negative forces bind us.

Morning Star Pregnancy Services This ministry would not be in existence if it were not for our volunteers! Our clients might be worried about an unplanned pregnancy. If a baby isn't part of their plans, they might be looking for an abortion clinic to terminate their pregnancy. At our Pregnancy Centers they won't find anyone judging them or telling them what to decide. They'll find personal answers to personal questions. We're here to help with FREE medical quality pregnancy tests, and, above all, the staff will explain to them every option they have if they're really pregnant. We understand that sometimes they need a place to process everything, to think through all their options, to feel safe to share what ’s on their mind. We need individuals who are willing to answer God’s call to counseling and administrative work.

Church-wide Missions

CrossPoint People Mission

There are times when people in our own congregation have financial needs that go above and beyond their means.  To help, we have a People Mission that can provide assistance with groceries, utilities, taxes, and housing, as they may be needed.  This fund is overseen by the Director of Missions and at times, families in need will be paired with families who have been blessed.  For example, a person with HVAC skills might be asked to service a family’s heating and cooling units.

Maboleh United Methodist Church; We have a sister church!  Makeni, Sierra Leone is a war-torn part of South Africa and we have adopted another Methodist congregation in that part of the world.  Providing both financial and material aid, and working in concert with our Conference and Arms Around Africa, we see our partnership continuing to develop with a mission team visit in early 2009.  They will not only bring supplies, but also skilled nurses and laborers.  To aid in that endeavor, our vision is to streamline all of our church-wide missions to benefit Sierra Leone.  Every drive for funds, school kits, and soccer balls is about helping out our brothers and sisters.  Just like the experts, we’ve picked something we want to excel at and we’re putting all of our energy into it to do it well.
